Carmina Burana - Carl Orff

If you like this kind of thing, this is the kind of thing you like. Carmina Burana is wonderful original music relatively unknown classical composer, Carl Orff, the configuration of medieval manuscripts related to the life, loves and other activities of the religious folk of the time.

Since language is also the Middle Ages, it would be impossible for his maiden aunt surprise, or even damaged. The concert Carmina Burana - Carl Orff performance is at the Philharmonie in Berlin, with a choir and orchestra in Japan.

First class. More familiar to most followers of classical music performance is the accompaniment of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, with full orchestra, 4 vocal soloists and chorus and orchestra in Japan.

I do not quite understand the dating of the DVD, as I believe the date of return from Carmina Burana in the video is dated 1989. Regardless of timing, both performances are fresh and vibrant.

Across The Universe

Beatles songs may have provided the soundtrack for the lives of those who came of age in the 1960s, but their actions extensive catalog of the literal soundtrack in this romantic musical from visionary director Julie Taymor. Newcomer Jim Sturgess stars as Jude, a young man working on the docks of Liverpool. Eager to escape, went to Princeton, where he meets Max (Joe Anderson).

But his meeting with Max’s younger sister Lucy (Evan Rachel Wood) that changes him. They quickly fall in love, but their relationship is tested by the chaos of the 1960s and Max arranged tour in Vietnam. Throughout the film, characters burst into classics from The Beatles: students sing ‘With a Little Help From My Friends’, while Uncle Sam bursts from a recruitment poster with strains of’ I Want You (She’s So Heavy ‘.

U2’s Bono makes a cameo as a counterculture leader and sings “I Am The Walrus” and Eddie Izzard provides a trippy rendition of “being for the benefit of Mr. Kite”.

Sturgess puts in a charming and earnest performance as Jude and is certainly capable of carrying the film. Wood deftly balances Lucy’s naivete and knowledge, easily moving between her love for Jude and her passion for her cause. Although the performances are strong, it’s Taymor’s gifted direction that makes the whole universe so fascinating to watch.

As in Frida and Broadway, The Lion King, shows herself an artist with creativity few can match. Director of photography Bruno Delbonnel also deserves praise for his contribution to the stunning visuals.

He has worked with Jean-Pierre Jeunet on Amelie and A Very Long Engagement, and he brings the same sense of romance and fantasy in this unique musical.

Beckett On Film

Beckett On Film If Samuel Beckett makes sense for you, then ‘Beckett on Film’ is truly a joyous experience of clarity attached to the ‘wow’factor. If little or no sense at all, then this is an incredibly good and powerful introduction if you want or need to get your head round work. The films include works that is never likely to see on stage anywhere, while the most popular realize exciting new filmic treatment.

Encant’Play Me ‘and my absolute favorite was “Ohio Impromptu”, which surprised me for its impeccable and extremely moving reading by Jeremy Irons.

Lucia Di Lammermoor

Lucia Di Lammermoor Good old fashioned “Stand and Deliver” performance! The fast transmission through the endless things scene by scene reduced the time to see much!

If the guy up and down the curtain on piece work then I suppose he could have retired after the performance. Scotto is right, but not in the same league as Sutherland or Callas.

Bergonzi is worth the rent even though the performance is directly from the “fa cinque cinque e dieci” opera school of acting. Overall I think the pace of implementation is slow and endless curtain calls - makes the set quite leaden.

Its still worth watching as a curiosity.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Funky Monks

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Funky Monks Funky Monks chili captures the recording sessions for the album Blood Sugar Sex Magic. Over time, the suggestions are now evident in the turbulent years that lay ahead for the band. For thoughout the DVD from the melodic, Beatles-esque sound Guindillas current recording witnesses through, for example, Breaking The Girl, and especially under the bridge.

Another image that comes into focus is the beginning of the general disillusionment John Frusciante was beginning to feel about the recording industry. So Funky Monks captures a moment in time, that of a changing and idology sound of a band within a period of trasisitory.

Despite this performance are very tight, magnetic and powerful in everything. So Funky Monks is recommended for any fan of the chili peppers, which serves as a powerful historical document, particularly relevant for more fans

Don Giovanni - Mozart

Any fan of the opera will have a special fondness for the dark masterpiece of Mozart. The opera focuses on sexual conquest - success and failure - the legendary Don. Peter Sellar contemporary sense of establishing the work on the streets of Manhattan.

We see a leather dress-Don parading the streets, the scene becomes a feast of food at Mc Donalds, and the accompanying music is not from a stage in the band, but a ghetto-blaster! Setting identical twins Eugene and Herbert Perry in the role of Don Giovanni and Leporello, may seem odd, but you can not complain that the voices of the couple or their credibilty in the papers.

For anyone who is new to the opera, this is an ideal introduction. The story is clear, and even some of the humor of the original remains. Give it a look, you will not regret!
