Fire And Ice

Celebrated sword and sorcery-artist Frank Frazetta teams with animation director Ralph Bakshi for this high energy fantasy animation. It’s a prehistoric battle of the elements as the dissolute ruler of the World Ice Nekron (Sean Hannon), starts a war against the people of fire with a huge movement of glaciers and armies of subhuman monsters as his weapons.

When he arranges for the king’s daughter turned fire Teegra (Cynthia Lenke), kidnapped, the adventure begins when she escapes from her captors and hooks Lom (Randy Norton), lone survivor of an early skirmish. With the help of a mysterious dark warrior (based on Frazetta’s famous painting The Death Dealer), Lom and combat Teegra Nekron armies and gigantic monsters, lesbian sorcerers and other comic book delights. Thundering classical music by William Kraft adds excitement to this violent, sexy, fast-moving film.

It also benefits from unusual animation techniques that nicely complement the extravagant imagination of Frazetta, Bakshi, and screenwriters Roy Thomas and Gerry Conway.

Cheaper By The Dozen

Clifton Webb stars in this lighthearted comedy as a patriarch who has more children than he can count on two hands. Together with his beloved wife, played with dry humor, Myrna Loy, Frank Gilbreth must contend with the problems of five fathers. This includes a mass tonsillectomy and adolescent crises of the eldest daughter, his lack of a date for the school dance is solved skillfully by the parent, who carries himself!

Based on the true story of Frank and adventures in raising a child Lillian Gibreth as described in the book written by two of his sons, Cheaper by the Dozen is directed with a refreshing post war optimism by Walter Lang. Despite the large family must be run with a neat, though comic, efficiency, is Dad’s charm and love for his offspring keeps the family.

Secondhand Lions

Fabulous movie! The cast are really excellent and good in character.

This film comes with some amazing performances. Caine and Duval are bright, like two grumpy old men who just want to be alone to get on with your life. Believe me when I tell you will not believe what they do for street vendors (I think we can all identify how they feel!

). They live life on their own terms and her nephew, soon realizes that the “terms” are not as bad as he first thought when looking at other opitions rather unattractive in her life. Needless to say there are some tall tales to be told brilliantly by the two old guys and, of course, the superb way that the film actually gets its name.

The twist at the end is good, heartlifting and fun! I recommend it to anyone after seeing with my parents, spouse and child of 8, who all sat down without saying a word, except to laugh well and wholeheartedly in the right place! In short, a really good movie.

Finding Nemo

Seen in the movies and now watched at home. I still can not understand what the young turtle guy is saying, but I’m not a good surfer.Rented this because I wanted to keep kids occupied and adults were. But first had to verify that it was appropriate for children (That is our excuse!). Yup the jokes were as funny as they had been in the movies, the sad parts in burrows made us partners, and the parties happy made us laugh.

Definitely safe for kids.Watch out in the end credits and see the rest of escape for aquarium fish tank cleaning. Guaranteed to leave laughing.Enjoy

Wombling Free

Wombling Free Well, I watched to the end, unlike my 4 and 7 years old, who left after being bored. It is a quaint throw back to British cinema of the seventies, but the slowness and lack of action that is low on appeal to the youth of today. I sang along to the musical numbers (yes I had LP of the soundtrack, sad I know!) And which was not a bad movie.

It is eco-friendly re-cyling message was way ahead of his time. Finally, after all, is a bunch of hairy tellytubbies and a weak plot, lacks the charm of the animated series narrated by Bernard Cribbins.

And Bonnie Langford, then as now, behind bars.

Genevieve

Genevieve “Genevieve” is a sitcom with four boys and a dog laying down one morning on the London to Brighton vintage car rally. The brave English summer weather, modern traffic, hotels, speed restrictions, police motorcyclists, and repeated interruptions of its cars - and just to make your life more exciting, the two girls decide to impress their girls and test their skills by racing vehicles back to London. This film was a box office success in its first release, and has done very little.

You need not be a vintage car freak to enjoy this film: anyone who has owned and driven an old car or do not stay in hotels in the chain of English food is the laughter here. This is a very enjoyable movie, with enchanting music, beautiful scenery and finely drawn, compelling characters. A classic.

Star Wars - Clone Wars - Vol. 2

Star Wars - Clone Wars - Vol. %%2%%n%%2%%2 The guest of others here say it all, really. Episode 3 feels like a rushed disaster if not see this first. It explains better fall of Anakin to the dark side, and Grievous is a much more intimidating villain here (well, you realize why you cough in episode 3).

And not only fill some gaps in the movies, but also manages to be well entertained in their own right. A friend of mine saw him and described him as “Star Wars more than Star Wars,” which pretty much sums up perfectly. Oh, and the DVD has some extras that are well worth seeing for anyone who just caught the series when it was shown on Toonami.

Can not recommend enough.

Peter Pan

Peter Pan This is the story of Peter Pan, right? A new live-action tread of the Disney film, with shades of “fiasco Spielberg Hook” pendulously hanging over him, right? Nope.

It’s overwhelming. Family history is given an overhaul almost Freudian (Wendy very fantasies Captain Hook! And he is your father!), And the determination of Peter to be the boy who never grows up is interpreted as a weakness, rather than something that is aspired.

And yet it manages to be hugely entertaining throughout. Jason Isaacs plays both the villain and Mr. Darling with a real ability, and without too many echoes of Lucius Malfoy, and Jeremy Sumpter is exactly as naughty as it should.

Richard Briers is a joy that Mr. Smee - shame on you, Bob Hoskins and cursed steals the show. And the Lost Boys are just that, unlike Mr. Spielberg’s ridiculous street-punks. Frankly, I expected to enjoy it at all - in fact, argued against ordering it - but was very pleasantly surprised.

As, hopefully, it will be!

Stormbreaker

Stormbreaker Other critics have said ‘The only thing wrong with this questionnaire movie I’ve seen have been written by adults - and kids …. we are not the target “and” that was made for a teen audience. Well, so were the Potter films and Lemony Snickett, both of which are in a different league to this.

An action movie with gadgets that a grown man can not enjoy? Hmmm.

In fact, the action scenes are so incredible that I doubt many teenagers enjoy, so a younger audience, even be more likely. Thieves are comic caricatures, but the humor almost nonexistent.

Leave your pre-teens in the film and go looking popcorn maker that would be more exciting.
