Shoot ‘Em Up

Logic. Reason. Plot.

Physics. This film has a blatant disregard for all these things for the sheer violence and bloodshed - and all works best for them. This is a video game and a Looney Tunes cartoon in one (Carrott-chewing Clive Owen is Bugs Bunny - going so far as to say ‘What’s up, Doc? “At a time - while Paul is a loving Giammti every second Elmer Fudd).

Art is not. An explosion of mindless action scenes are great indeed.

I think I can understand why people do not like the movie - I do not understand how she could enter without knowing what to expect. Seriously, criticizing it for being stupid, corny and illogical, when called ‘Shoot’ Em Up “seems to be missing the point. As one critic has already pointed out - that does exactly what it says on the tin.

This is not Citizen Kane. It’s a lot of people who jumped from an ever more elaborate. It’s a movie to see with a lot of peers and a larger group of beers - and a tongue firmly planted in his cheek.

The New World

The New World tells the story of Pocahontas with passion more than 1995 Disney s pukefest. Emmanuel Lubezki was nominated for an Oscar for his photography, which in itself is worth the audience s time and money. The film did not receive a signal from the Academy in any other category.

Many who saw him could make him think that is a boring movie in which the drama is scant. But I think the reason for the new world s failure is more than is brave enough to be what you want to be: every mood and tone, rather than being tailored to any market segment easy to define . It has action scenes, but not enough to satisfy fans of Bruce Willis.

It has romantic scenes, but not enough to satisfy fans of Meg Ryan. No laugh with moments for fans of Jack Black comedy. It looks, sounds and feels historically accurate, but not enough to stimulate discussion comments of historians.

Some movies have something for everyone; The New World doesn t at all, but has a very special and quiet tone is a remarkable feast for the eyes. The New World was written and is the residual value of the 1970s, the decade in which the public artistic taste of European films, including passenger and grew calm.

It’s a shame that the spirit of the era in which cinema is growing as these in the past. For now, there seems to be a significant audience of film where the tone is judged on the story. I hope that young filmmakers like Sofia Coppola can succeed where larger-scale shows what we’ve been missing.

Peter’s Friends

I read the criticism, accusing the film and the actors of being guilty of nothing more than demonstrate the ability to be luvvies and make a boring movie car right. It is no worse than some of the blockbusters of poor quality that our cinemas are full of.

Perhaps the fact that these people are educated and choose not to please the demands of film viewers with shorter attention a bit annoying? Not the best film ever made and most actors have done better, let’s face it, even great like Hopkins, De Niro and Pacino to name a mediocre play, but few have produced. Peter’s Friends is watchable and Ken Branagh is not as funny as the recovering alcoholic and jokes.

If we’re lucky we all have friends, even if they have family, they see us through the bad and the good times and this is the final message of the film. As one critic said also that what is not there to like about Stephen Fry?

Secondhand Lions

Fabulous movie! The cast are really excellent and good in character.

This film comes with some amazing performances. Caine and Duval are bright, like two grumpy old men who just want to be alone to get on with your life. Believe me when I tell you will not believe what they do for street vendors (I think we can all identify how they feel!

). They live life on their own terms and her nephew, soon realizes that the “terms” are not as bad as he first thought when looking at other opitions rather unattractive in her life. Needless to say there are some tall tales to be told brilliantly by the two old guys and, of course, the superb way that the film actually gets its name.

The twist at the end is good, heartlifting and fun! I recommend it to anyone after seeing with my parents, spouse and child of 8, who all sat down without saying a word, except to laugh well and wholeheartedly in the right place! In short, a really good movie.

Wedding Crashers

I saw the trailer and went to see and was glad I did too. Wilson and Vaughan work well together and Walken is threatening than ever. It seems that the tough guys always end up parodying themselves in their old age, and the similarities between the type of humor used here and in De Niro’s Meet the Parents / Fockers is more than a little familiar.

Most of the big laughs come from Vaughan strikes, both physically and verbally, while Wilson rolls for its part, the habitual nature sensitive rugged part that works so well. The female characters well and support almost inevitable cameo Ferrell is the right of his box foisty.

As usual with this type of film Buddy, most of the jokes stand or fall on the credibility of friendship and the resulting banter between the main characters and it certainly works here. Anyone Vaughan and Wilson got on very well or they are both actors, even better than I gave them due credit.

A very nice movie, one of the best of which is the genre, and well worth seeing.

Hostage

Bruce Willis is a stranger. For years I have been sure of its ability to act or whether I liked but when I saw ‘Hostage’ I realized that nobody makes these films better thatn Brucie.

Willis is a hostage negotiator turned small-time local sheriff. When a meter mob boss (the excellent Kevin Pollack) and his family are held hostage by some punk kids Willis is called into action. Yes, sounds familiar, and nothing too weird, but that’s where the twist happens and the guy is good.

Edge of your seat stuff that is a real rollercoaster ride. It goes back to the days of ‘Die Hrad’ and makes you regret seeing all these other movies in this genre.

A cut above the rest. Brucie has my respect.

“Well done to you ‘

Legend Of 1900

A tedious production of a story that deserved better. Looking through all the things I love about this movie I think there’s an original storyline, and one that could take for that.

However, the film is full of a series of performances that hit all the notes he’s wrong. Unless otherwise largely piano music, including early jazz, you can find all the pieces of music as boring as I, to the extent that spoil the whole movie for you.

An additional problem is that the music through you to see the central character as a sort of uber-genius of the ivories. If you can not enjoy music in so far as to settle and say “yes, a piano of God ‘, then much of the complaint and Legend Of 1900 history crumbles around him. I’m not sure Tim Roth.

For some reason, I really like in Reservoir Dogs, although part of me feels that its performance is poor. This performance seems rather unfortunate. He has a tick in which creaks a bit as he speaks when he is in a bit of emotional turmoil and I think that puts me out of it.

In this film he also is expected to do a bit of genius whistfulness fed, but - I fear - when it does, I think I find a bit silly. It has a nice feeling at the time, but every time I tried to relax in the movie and enjoy it, there was always something to irritate me. [1 star out of 5] www.bodnotbod.org.uk bodnotbod

Ladies In Lavender

Ladies In Lavender I felt it was incomplete. It is a charming story about a young man enters the lives of two sisters aged 60 +. But I felt the whole time I was having a restricted view of what was happening.

What had happened and where we are in the development of history? In some ways it is a fairly accurate simulation of how to watch the movie and experience the things that happen in real life - so often we see only a part of history, remnants of what is happening and need to figure out the rest.

It’s like I got in this town of Cornwall, and watched from a bench in the village as part of the story shows you as the charaters passed through his eyes, and his friends told him fragments. Then it’s up to you to work around. If that is what the director was looking for which is almost the right to be told how the story.

Saw

Most modern horror movies we see today are so boring, predictable and clearly there for both sexes can see the other running in their underwear. But this was not bad at all.The quality was fine, but Leigh Whannel is the leading, and occasionally appears as though inexperienced in the world of acting. The best of the movie is the tone and mild and unpredictable twists.

The old bathroom together two conductors are held in incredibly atmospheric. It’s a shame it’s a little disappointed not always scary.

It might have made of the other victims, the most terrifying story of Amanda. And the scene did not spread cuttign walk around much (by the media, word of mouth, etc), would have been more frightening and unexpected. Overall, not the best, but certianly one of the few good horror in the last decade.
